AN ALBANIAN WOMAN WHO CLAIMS THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE RICH TO BE A PHILANTHROPIST.
Xhoi Jakaj was a biology teacher, firstly teaching in high school and then in university after she got the PHD degree. She has written dy books about social issues of teenagers. Since she was a teacher she has lived with youngster’s problems.
She is extremely active in charity and philanthropy, and used the income of her books for good causes.
She has opened a Center located in the suburb of Tirana, where are provided various free art classes, and also free assistance, helping youngsters, who do not have possibilities to take classes of piano or canto. She has used the money from the sales of two books for organizing concerts of talented youngsters, who do not have resources to show their talent. She has organized several fundraising concerts aiming to offer health insurance and scholarship for youngsters such as Doriana Veliu. She has frequently organized charity activities for women in prison, excluded from society.
With this act, I want to say to all people that to do an act of charity does not necessary mean to be rich. An altruistic and great heart is enough. When you see how many people in need live in Albania, you want so much to make them happy through your acts. There is nothing better than serving people through your work. Xhoi Jakaj
